State & County Primary Election
(This election determines who will represent the Democrat and Republican parties in the General election in August.)
Local Positions
Below is a description of local offices running in the 2026 election, and the current office holders. Office holders highlighted in blue indicates they ran on the 2022 Democratic Primary.
County Mayor
The County Mayor serves as the chief executive officer of the county government. They oversee daily operations, prepare the budget, and carry out policies set by the County Commission.
Current Officeholder: David Jackson
The Sheriff is the chief law enforcement officer for the county. The office operates the jail, provides patrol and investigative services, and ensures courthouse security.
Current Officeholder: Bo Burnette
The county clerk has numerous duties, including acting as clerk of the county legislative body, issuing motor vehicle titles and registrations, collecting privilege taxes, and overseeing the issuance of beer permits, marriage licenses, and pawnbroker licenses.

Circuit Court Clerk
The Circuit Court Clerk’s office is responsible for maintaining all records in the Marion County Circuit and General Sessions Court. The Circuit Court Clerk attends court and enters minutes, files and enters all documents, pleadings, papers and exhibits, invests funds, keeps rule and execution dockets, and other duties required.

The county trustee has three major functions: (1) collecting the county's property taxes; (2) accounting for and disbursing county funds; and (3) investing temporarily idle county funds.
Current Officeholder: Diane B. Massengale
The primary function of the register is to make and preserve a record of instruments required or allowed by law to be filed or recorded, including but not limited to deeds, powers of attorney, deeds of trust, mortgages, liens, contracts, plats, leases, judgments, wills, court orders, military discharges, records under the Uniform Commercial Code (primarily fixture filings), and other types of documents.

County Commissioners are responsible for setting policy, managing the county budget, overseeing county operations, and representing the county's interests at the state and federal level.

School Board Member
In Tennessee, elected school board members govern public education by setting policies, establishing goals, adopting the district budget, and hiring and evaluating the superintendent. They act as a liaison between the community and the schools, representing the public's voice and ensuring the district meets state and federal guidelines while addressing local needs. Board members have authority only when acting as a corporate body in official meetings, not as individuals
